The 'Bot Shop originated from a fascination and intrigue in the art of robotic combat. I've tinkered with various websites in the past, and decided to combine 2 of my favorite interests. Over the years, I have been involved with computer stuff including Sysop'ing a successful BBS in the early 90's and working on PCs. For the last 12 years or so, I have been an industrial mechanic of some of the country's more notable factories (and a few dismal factories which will go unnamed). From these places I learned a great deal about automation, mechanical design, some electrical/electronic work, and about 6 months hands on with mills, lathes, surface grinders, MIG/ARC welding, and all the other metalworking stuff (I was making knives at the time). My best friend is a master elctrician/electrical engineer, and a master craftsman, so I won't be running short on ideas. I have literally DOZENS of robotic designs but have yet to build one. Once I find a decent place to do my work, I can start building my own competition, so watch out world! Project "DarkStar" will be in the wings soon.
For the record, I spent MONTHS online clipping links from about 6 different search engines in order to compile the huge selection of RoboLinks (about 1,000,000 results to wade through....). After gathering the myriad of links, it took me a few weeks to assemble the site (a few hours here & there). I hope you like it.
